About 50 km north of Amman, you find the remains of the ancient Roman city of Gerasa. Many temples for various gods, theaters and other buildings in a exceptional good state can be visited here.
among the most spectacular sights, there is the Hippodrome, which used to seat about 15,000 in its glory days. It is still worth a visit, although there are only about 500 seats available today: Every day, Roman history comes to live again when there are Roman legionnaries excercising, gladiators fighting and a real chariot race!
